Announcements
- June Gilch—students will now have a inclement weather folder with school work for children
- Feb. 11 Spirit Night at Chick Fil A: Julie Mullins is our parent rep for this month
- March PTO meeting is moved to Monday, March 15th due to no school on March 8th.
- Kiwanis club has donated an unsolicited donation of $200.00
- Earth Fare Friend of the Quarter was lost to the Play House, but we will submit an application for next quarter.
- Golden Corral has donated an achievement certificate book for one free kids buffet for teachers to hand out
Treasury Report
- No Change;
- $200.00 from Kiwanis to be deposited.
- $33.15 from January Chick-Fil-A’ Spirit Night
Larry motioned to approve of the areas who did not submit a wish list will still have a $200 limit for a wish list…total of $800.00
All wish lists are approved. Beth V. will be doing the ordering. We now have an invoice sheet for PTO purchase.
Tim Miller has Teacher Appreciation receipts to turn in.
After School Scholarships need to be started: as of now $500 is owed to AS
Before Care Scholarships—still need information from Vicki.
New Business
Scholar ship funding: No total amount known as of yet in the L’heurex fund for Buffalo Cove, Treasury will report next month on this total. A note on Buffalo Cove paperwork stating that partial and complete scholarships are available, contact so and so or fill out attached application.
NEEDED: a PTO representative to take over grocery cards & Subway cards. Rep needs to contact company and fix and document to link our school with store cards. This has to be redone every year.
Pepsi Grant? Jennefer will send out information
Someone has donated 75 tons of gravel; a nice gesture would be to pay for trucks gas. Contact Lyn Lewis on more information, who is donating, how much is gas ect…Wait until Spring

Jones House Art Show: postponed to Feb 13 or Feb 19 more information to follow
Staff Appreciation: Tim will not be here for upcoming event, need someone on site 1pm-1:15 pm to help organize and set up

- Class room Sponsors… want to consider for next year; give $5 at the end of year for following year
- Every parent give $5 to support their class
- Include extra curricular classes; art; pe; ect
- Sign on the door for business sponsors
- Business sponsor guidelines need to be created.

Welcome
Jane shared details about the Cooking Club. This will hopefully be reinstated with help from Earth Fare.
Business: JS nominated LC for VP, Beth V 2nd, unanimous in favor vote. JW nominated to be Treasurer, unanimous in favor
Peace Feast Success:
- Excellent records were kept so we are set for next year and following years. Great job everyone who was involved to make this a success and came to support us

Partnership with Earth Fare, they do not give money anymore. They support us, and we send customers into store… Cooking Class, Kindergarten Healthy Eating etc.
- Vicki suggested Boxed lunch with note on lunch provided by EF…
- Will bring in Garden Supplies for April’s Garden…
- Will host event at Earth Fare (cookout)
Staff Appreciatiion:
- Tim may be able to buy exculsivly from Earth Fare
- Last SA was donated exclusively by TRCS parents.

PTO Meeting Minutes for November 9th, 2009
Announcements:
- Chik-fil-A still needs one volunteer for spring
- Herb Container fundraiser – Julie Mullis – Middle grades fundraiser for science materials. Students will raise plants at home in a sunny spot and create a pot, then sell the potted plant at the Jones house in January.
- Tim Muller has spoken with Kelly Snyder about artshow/fundraiser. Reception March 6, art will be displayed March 1 – March 14 2010. Donations will be collected, parents are encouraged to donate for their child’s artwork. Children will take their artwork home. Turn in artwork to teacher before Christmas.
- PTO Vice president office is still vacant.
- PTO Secretary will be needed in January.
Staff Appreciation
- Tim has held one event, which was self-funded. He would like some help providing food. Event is third Wednesday of the month.
- President suggests budget of $50. Cater for 20 – 21 people. Motion to expend $350 over the course of the school year. Motion approved.
- Masseuse information will be sent to Tim. Acupuncture might be possible as well. Ms. Sandi will talk to her husband.
Peace Feast
- Price correction - $290 includes cleaning, sound tech and kitchen staff, increase of $65 from last meeting.
- Flyer – Time to send out a “Save the date – December 11, 2009” flyer, hopefully created by Beth Jacquot. Cheryl will also contact the papers to publicize the event as well.
- Donation receipts – Larry will alter the donation receipts.
- All-committee meeting Thurs Dec 3 at 3:30pm in Ms. Sandi’s room.
- What will the money be spent on? Playground equipment is a popular idea, but all suggestions must be approved by Ms. Gilch.
- Decorations – Winter Wonderland theme. Try to focus on re-useable items. Please donate/make blue/silver/white snowflakes.
Committee Reports
- Silent Auction – for a complete list of items, see PeacefeastTRCS@gmail.com
- Basket – items are coming in, accumulating in the school office. Items will be split into baskets Nov. 18 time to be determined.
- Craft and activities – It is a big concern to keep the kids occupied. Parents need to be reminded that they are responsible for their own kids. We need more “security”/kid wranglers.

- Food – spaghetti, salad (Beth Darnell will contact Nova), Previous - Stickboy bread, donated coffee, homemade desserts.
- Scholarships – for fieldtrips, etc. June Gilch wants to know how much we have available for scholarships.

September 14, 2009

- after school – Gabe is expectant of extra kids on PTO days

- Staff Appreciation – bring breakfast to school for teachers
- Wheat free, vegetarian options necessary
- Tim volunteers to lead this effort
- Sandi Priest – Teacher representative
- Chik-fil-A – representative needed 5:30 – 7:30pm Thurs nights. Yard signs available for horseshoe area at school. Cannot recruit people in the restaurant, but folks can mention that they are there to support TRCS. Signup sheet circulates.
- New Fundraiser
- Art Show – Tim Miller offers describes idea he has enacted at other school. Interested students submit artwork. Students who submit can vote on the best piece from each grade. Top two are framed by Tim’s gallery. Gallery then displays pieces, culminating in an auction. Kelly mentioned that there is a school wide artshow in February, so try not to overlap.
- Classroom Sponsors – Business or person who wishes to financial sponsor a classroom.
- Beth Jacquot presents idea of walk-a-thon.
- Beth Jacquot reminds PTO she has possession of a donated set of patio furniture. Perhaps we could sell at Peace Feast silent auction.
- Lowe’s Food giftcards. How does it work? Do we want to continue?
- Baldguy brew fundraiser. Lessa volunteers to coordinate effort.
- Peace Feast
- December 11 date submitted.
- Location - Is there rent? Is anyone a member of Boone United Methodist Church? Tim Miller suggests Blowing Rock American Legion Bldg. Need to know capacity.
- Budget? Estimate of $300 for food one year, hire someone to run dishwasher, sound person
- Food – How much to Mike and Nova donate, how much do we buy.
- Committees – Silent Auction, Baskets, Crafts and Performances, Setup and Breakdown, Food and Staff. Signup sheets will be held in office, in specially marked box. correction---sign-ups are in the kitchen
- Funding Request – plastic collapsible tables for 3rd grade. Move to table request until President meets with teachers. Motion is seconded.

- Exit remarks from former co-president, Sarah Jackson. Introductions of parents.
- Meetings will be 2nd Monday of every month. Currently 3:30pm. Evening meetings possible.
- Selection of president (Jennefer Spell) and secretary (Anna Keber.)
- Funding Requests:
- April - $40 for material for over-chair book pockets. Do parents have the material? Motion to allot the money. Motion seconded by president. Motion carries unanimously. b. Sign in circle that permanent and secure. John Lee will donate design, construction. Request of $700 for materials. Questions regarding fundraising and donation of materials. c. $3,000 total in budget.
- Teacher appreciation
- Peace Feast – in past years included hot meal, raffle, silent auction, performance. Celebrates winter holidays. One issue is competing with county schools for donations. Urgent needs: date, committee, space. Discussion of moving Peace Feast to spring. General consensus to keep in winter. President queries group, which decided to hold Peace Feast. Heather Burnette volunteers to email United Methodist Church to reserve hall. Subcommittees suggested to organize Peace Feast.
- T-shirt still available. Sizes?
- Fundraisers through classes. President would like fundraisers not to overlap with individual classes.
- Chick-fil-A Spirit night September 3rd, 7:30. Heather Burnette volunteers to be representative.
- Spring Fundraiser, or AURA.
